Job Description
We are seeking a full time professional Medical Insurance Collector for our growing Spine Neurosurgeon and Pain Management practice. Candidate must be solutions oriented, able to follow directions and processes, efficient, mature, communicate well and be able to maintain composure under pressure. We are looking for an Accounts Receivable superstar.
Must have experience working with major medical insurance companies such as Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, Oxford, and United Health.
Daily Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate discrepancies with Insurance accounts daily
- Accounts Receivables, follow up on claims via phone, electronically online
- Collection on Paid to Patients accounts.
- Correspond with patients as necessary to update discrepancies on the account.
- Documentation of all actions regarding account
- Re-billing and correcting claims
- Tracking trends that may hinder billing and collections.
- Locating missing or misapplied payments.
- Document follow up activity and relevant information on patient account status
- Reviewing e-mails
- Participate in meetings
Education
Minimum high school diploma or GED
Experience
Minimum of 2 years experience working in medical accounts receivable. Experience with Neurosurgical, Spine Ortho and Pain Management Claims a huge plus.
Requires strong multitasking abilities, communication, and organizational skills.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE REVIEWED IN OFFICE.

Medical Scribe/Medical Administrative Assistant
Reports To
The Medical Scribe will report to the Practice Manager and to the Jenkins NeuroSpine Business Owner.
Job Overview
As the Medical Scribe in the practice, you will be expected to perform medical secretarial work of every nature, including accompanying any surgeon or surgeons or physician’s assistant to hospitals and medical care facilities in order to document medical histories, procedures and/or operative reports (ie “scribing”). You will also be expected to organize and catalog data for the purposes of research.
Qualifications:
Education level: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, health-related program
General skills:
- Able to multi-task and manage his/her time well
- Able to use good judgement to prioritize daily tasks
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Professional attitude and appearance, excellent writing skills and verbal communication
- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical medicine, clinical trials and GCP concepts
- Detail-oriented and meticulous in all aspects of work
- Strong follow-through skills and ability to proactively identify and solve problems; demonstrated initiative is imperative
- Must have professional demeanor and strong communication skills with the public as well as physicians/researchers
- Ability to work well independently as well as in team environment
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and multi-tasking skills are critical
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, electronic health systems and databases used in research environment, or have a willingness to learn and demonstrate proficiency within three months of hire

- Possess the ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and manage deadlines
- Knowledge of GCP, federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA policies and procedures

Certifications: Knowledge of PC and MAC platforms and Microsoft Office Suite, Experience working with an EMR (Epic, Dr. Chrono preferred)

Clinical Research Coordinator (Engineering Background)
Job description
Clinical Research Coordinator – Jenkins Neurospine
The Clinical Research Coordinator at Jenkins NeuroSpine is responsible for overseeing all research responsibilities of the practice.
We are looking for someone with an Engineering background as well as some experience/exposure to entrepreneurship or other business relationships.
Pay and bonuses will be commensurate with the level of experience.
- Research Responsibilities
- Manages the research team including interns, research assistants, medical students, and coordinates research goals with the PI
- Plans and coordinates the initiation of research study protocol, and the establishment of operating policies and procedures
- Plans, implements and maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; may coordinate the collection and analysis of research data
- Ensures the smooth and efficient day to day operation of research and data collection activities
- Assist in writing and drafting abstracts for research conferences, papers for publication, and any other public research content
- Monitors the progress of research activities, develops and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrations, etc.
- Works with Institutional Review Boards (IRB’s) for study approval, continuation, and maintenance
- Consent and follow up with patients in research studies
- Give patients necessary forms and ensure they are returned in a timely manner
- Keep research binders organized and up to date
- Coordinate with the Mount Sinai IRB and Mount Sinai Neurosurgery Research Department for necessary research collaboration
- Communicate with PI, Nurse Practitioner, other coordinators about research needs
- Update patient materials as necessary
- Summer Intern Responsibilities
- Run the recruitment process for summer interns
- Reach out to affiliated schools to send updated job posting
- Filter and choose candidates to interview
- Coordinate and schedule interviews
- Assist in selecting the intern candidates and extend offer letters
- Help onboard summer interns, including working with the Sinai volunteer office, research department, and office staff
- Work with summer interns on establishing a research project, learning research techniques and protocols
- Provide interns access to all office resources they need in order to perform research successfully
- Give overview of each research project to ensure each intern has sufficient background information
- Ensure summer interns have ID badge, scrubs, and anything else they need for OR access
- Mentor interns and guide them through the research process all summer
- Set up the “Summer of Science” research presentation dinner at the end of the summer
- GNI Responsibilities
- Update and maintain the GNI website
- Send out quarterly updates about the state of the GNI and state of research activities
- Reach out to patients for donations
- Be a spokesperson for the GNI
- Communicate with patients to raise awareness and funds about the GNI
- Manage the intellectual property of Arthur Jenkins MD, Jenkins NeuroSpine, and Neurotect
- Investigate potential collaborators and design/implementation partners
- Identify possible patent infringements with periodic web searches
- Assist in developing possible testing and research to validate these patents/ideas
Pay: $65,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
